We’re delighted to announce another reason to love icecream – Refugee Week is now supported by Ben & Jerry’s Foundation.

A grant from the Foundation to Counterpoints Arts will be used to give platforms to refugee artists and voices and build the communications capacity of local Refugee Week activists. The project includes a media and social workshop that will travel to organisers in five UK towns, with the aim of supporting them to share the story of their Refugee Week with wider audiences.

Organisers of Refugee Week Wolverhampton will be the first to take part in the training in December 2016, followed by Sheffield in February 2017, with further locations to be confirmed soon.

The funding will also enable Counterpoints Arts to increase media coverage of projects engaging in refugee and migrant experiences through the arts.

Counterpoints Arts is coordinator of the Refugee Week partnership.

Ben & Jerry’s Foundation supports grassroots activism and community organizing for social and environmental justice around the country.
