Book Club with Yasmin Alibhai-Brown
Book Club - Exotic England by Yasmin Alibhai-Brown
Local book groups and others are invited to join us and read ‘Exotic England’ by Yasmin Alibhai-Brown. England may be a small country on a small island, but its inhabitants have always had a boundless curiosity about the world beyond their shoreline. The book traces this golden thread of otherness through five centuries of English history to reveal how it has shaped the buildings, flavoured the food, powered the economy, and created a truly diverse society.
The evening will feature a discussion on the book with the author, Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, and facilitated by Dr Russell Rook. All are welcome, even if you haven’t read the book this will be a fascinating discussion.
Yasmin Alibhai-Brown is a journalist, author and radio & television presenter. She has written for The Guardian, Observer, The Mail and other newspapers.
This event is put together in partnership with For Refugees, educating, advocating and equipping churches and community groups to welcome refugees in the UK.
