An epic night of story and song, with storyteller Matthew Crampton and American folk musician Jeff Warner, Human Cargo gives voice to past exiles – emigrants, slaves, transportees – to cast fresh light on today’s migrations. The show draws on Matthew’s acclaimed book Human Cargo: Stories & Songs of Emigration, Slavery and Transportation.
This North Suffolk performance partners with Suffolk Refugee Support as part of the show’s Parallel Lives project. Members of the group will be at The Cut on the night to talk about their work. Wherever it performs, Human Cargo includes local stories and links with local organisations. Through Parallel Lives, Matthew’s shows have now partnered with 45 refugee support groups across Britain.
Storyteller and singer Matthew Crampton’s recent show The Transports won Five Stars from The Guardian. This collaboration unites Matthew with American traditional music legend Jeff Warner.
