An epic night of story and song, with storyteller Matthew Crampton and American folk musician Jeff Warner, Human Cargo gives voice to past exiles – emigrants, slaves, transportees – to cast fresh light on today’s migrations. The show draws on Matthew’s acclaimed book Human Cargo: Stories & Songs of Emigration, Slavery and Transportation.
This London performance partners with The Refugee Council as part of the show’s Parallel Lives project. The Refugee Council will be at Kings Place on the night to talk about their work. Wherever it performs, Human Cargo includes local stories and partners with a local refugee support group. Through Parallel Lives, Matthew’s shows have now linked with 45 different groups across Britain.
Storyteller and singer Matthew Crampton’s recent show The Transports won Five Stars from The Guardian. This collaboration unites Matthew with American traditional music legend Jeff Warner.
