Safar: Journey

Performance in The Lydia and Manfred Gorvy Lecture Theatre

Safar is the result of a dance project led by Hawiyya Dance Company that aims to bring women from different backgrounds together, by creating a safe and secure women-only space.

The group of women explored movement as a tool of expression for both individual and cultural identity, while reflecting on the concepts of journey and womanhood.

The performance is a celebration of the resilience and resistance of refugee women. It includes spoken word, contemporary dance, traditional dabke dance and it is accompanied by musicians from Music with Refugees.
