During the second half of 2015, the ‘refugee crisis’ was accompanied by incredible acts of welcome by communities and individuals across the UK and Europe.

Some were getting involved in refugee rights for the very first time, while others were continuing the volunteering and campaigning they are committed to all year round, year on year.

Inspired by their actions, the theme of Refugee Week 2016 will be ‘welcome’.

From 20 to 26 June, Refugee Week 2016 will celebrate the welcome shown to refugees and asylum seekers in the UK, and seek to encourage and inspire communities to continue to welcome new arrivals in the weeks, months and years to come.

Individuals, groups and organisations of all kinds and sizes are invited to hold events and activities on the theme of welcome during the week, as well as participating on social media – more details to follow.

See our FAQs for more information about how to get involved, and for any enquiries contact Refugee Week UK Coordinator Emily Churchill Zaraa on emily@counterpoints.org.uk or 0207 012 1761.

Note that the theme of Refugee Festival Scotland, incorporating Refugee Week, is to come – check their website for updates.

We look forward to celebrating with you!
