If we were asked, a lot of us would probably say we don’t know anyone who is a refugee. That we couldn’t name one. That perhaps we’d like to know more about the experiences of refugees, but have never had the opportunity.

In fact, the word ‘refugee’ covers up as much as it explains. A refugee can be anybody. People have been forced to leave their homes throughout recent human history, and refugees are part of the fabric of British history and culture. Einstein was a refugee.  So is Rita Ora, Isabel Allende and millions of others who are not famous but who each have something to give and a unique story to tell.

For this Simple Act, we invite you to discover the story of one of 20 very different people, who have one thing in common – they are all refugees.

Click here to read their stories (coming soon!).

If you think more people should to hear the story you’ve just read then why not tell a friend, or share on social media using one of the pre-written posts in the link.
