Bristol Refugee Festival 8th-23rd June

Bristol Refugee Festival 8th-23rd June

Join us for our 8th year, with a citywide cross-arts programme running 8-23 June.

Events from picnics to poetry, theatre, cooking and rock climbing will bring communities together to share culture
and celebrate the contribution of refugees and asylum seekers in a spirit of welcome, inclusion and integration.

The Festival launch takes place at St Werburghs Community Centre as part of an open day on 8 June which includes
a Latvian choir and Tibetan cultural showcase. Schools of Sanctuary will run activities on 14 June. Page Park will host
its popular Celebrate With Me fun day on 15 June, while sporting types can head to the Our City Community Cup
instead, or take part in a Nordic Walking taster in Southmead on 17 June.

Queen Square will once again host the much-loved day festival of music, food and family activities – which this year
has grown into a ‘Celebrating Sanctuary in the City’ weekend of activities at the Arnolfini, Bristol Old Vic, Sparks,
Bristol Beacon and Bristol Museums, across 22-23 June.

Pre-Festival warm up events include Sudanese oud duo Nabra in concert (Widcombe Social Club, Bath, 1 June); a
night of desert blues with Moroccan Gnawa maestro Mohamed Errebbaa and Robert Plant sidekick Justin Adams
(Crofters Rights, 3 June); and a peace feast in Page Park (Staple Hill, 6 June).
