Singing in Solidarity
Join us for Singing in Solidarity – an uplifting evening of singing, conversation, food and drink to celebrate Refugee Week 2024.
In this participatory event you will:
* Sing alongside the Sing for Freedom Choir and the Mixed Up Chorus as we learn some beautiful new music together, led by Musical Director Jeremy Haneman
* Get a ‘behind the scenes’ insight into the pieces both choirs are working on this term
* Enjoy sharing food, drink and conversation around this year’s Refugee Week theme of ‘Our Home’
* Be part of a worldwide celebration of solidarity with those seeking sanctuary
All are welcome, and you do not need experience of singing or reading music.
The Sing for Freedom Choir unites displaced people with others from across London and around the country who join to sing in solidarity with them. Founded by survivors from the charity Freedom From Torture, it offers members a joyful community of friendship founded in music, and delights audiences with unique and life-enhancing performances.
Founded in 2014, The Mixed Up Chorus is a non-auditioned community choir which unites audiences and singers through a love of music. The choir sings to bring together people of different beliefs, faiths, cultures and life experiences to promote understanding and empathy. We believe that when we sing well together, we live well together.
Please arrive at 7.30pm. The evening’s activities will run 7.30-9pm, including refreshments.
