TILKA: making theatre amid Lebanon’s collapse

TILKA is an intimate portrait of five women who meet to create a striking, collective piece of theatre amid Lebanon’s collapse. In the mountains outside Beirut, they weave together a story inspired by their experiences as women fighting against the odds for their rights. Director Myriam Geagea describes the film as “a testament to the transformative power of art and self-expression.”

TILKA won Best Local Documentary at the Lebanese Independent Film Festival, a Special Jury Mention at the Beirut Women Film Festival and premiered in the UK at Cambridge Film Festival.

The film is a Seenaryo production, directed by Myriam Geagea. Seenaryo co-creates powerful and imaginative theatre with under-served communities in Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine. Alongside their community theatre work, they also train teachers to transform their classrooms through play.
