This interactive session is designed for anyone needing an interpreter to communicate effectively with asylum seekers, refugees, or others whose first language isn’t English (note: Sign language will not be covered).
We will discuss your experiences, priorities, and the principles and practices of working with interpreters. Learn what standards of professionalism to expect and explore contexts from using enthusiastic volunteers to booking experienced professionals.
Additionally, we will consider what benefits refugees might gain from interpreting and whether it’s better to use agencies or develop alternative working methods
