Transcultural: Artinfusion Taster Session
Free Artinfusion Taster Session
Thursday 20th June 1.00 -1.30pm (Zoom)
‘Transculturalism’
What does ‘home’ mean for you? Do you find yourself torn between two cultures?
Together we will look at the painting by Njideka Akunyili Crosby and explore how the Nigerian-born, LA-based artist has used the concept she named ‘transculturalism’ in her work. We will start and end with some mindfulness practices to ground us in the present moment and remind us of our sense of ‘home’.

Facilitators:
Sabine Casparie: I worked as a lawyer before making a career change into art, completing a Postgraduate Diploma in art history at the Courtauld Institute of Art in 2011 and a Masters in Modern and Contemporary Art at Christie’s Education, London in 2012. Since then I have led contemporary art tours in London and contemporary art engagement sessions in the museum, the classroom and on Zoom. I also work as collection consultant for the art collection of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. After a hospital admission for severe depression, my passion is to use the power of artworks to create mental wellbeing.
Buse Yıldırım: Blending a fine arts and film background with a career spanning media roles in Istanbul to talent management, I’ve always pursued a passion for creativity and wellbeing. In London in 2019, I founded a digital marketing firm and deepened my wellbeing journey by becoming a yoga teacher in 2020, followed by completing internationally accredited mindfulness and compassion trainings. As the co-founder of Artinfusion, I now fuse mindfulness, compassion, nature, and art, aiming to enhance wellbeing for individuals and communities alike.
