Refugee Week 2020 kicks off on 15 June – join us!

Refugee Week is an annual festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees. Its first ever virtual edition is an invitation to connect across borders and distance, and, together, imagine a different world.

Here are six ways you can get involved:

1. Do a Simple Act
Simple Acts are everyday actions we can all do to stand with refugees and make new connections in our communities. For Refugee Week 2020 we’re inviting you to do one or more of our eight Simple Acts inspired by the theme ‘Imagine’. You can plan an event or activity around a Simple Act or simply take part during the week itself.

2. Hold a Virtual Event
Refugee Week events many different forms and can be as big or as small as you like. Whether you hold an online performance or a watch party, a cross-border workshop or a virtual supper club, our Refugee Week Organiser Pack has everything you need to get started.

3. Join a Virtual Event
An exciting range of partners across the country (and world!) will be holding online performances and workshops for you to take part in throughout the week. Check out our events calendar  to see what’s on (even more events coming soon)

4. Do a Children’s Activity
Help young people in your schools or family learn about and connect with experiences of displacement. Our Children & Young People’s Activity Pack has a range of creative activities, films and learning resources for children of all ages, which can be done at school or at home.

5. Hold a Watch Party
Connect with experiences of displacement and movement by hosting a virtual film night and online discussion. Counterpoints Arts’ Moving Worlds programme is a special selection of features and short films available to watch at home for Refugee Week 2020, each with its own post-screening discussion resource.

6. Join us on Social Media
Throughout Refugee Week, we’ll be sharing stories, messages and creations by a range of inspiring people who have experienced or been touched by displacement. Help us share their voices and add yours by following us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, sharing our posts and joining the conversation using #RefugeeWeek2020 and #Imagine. Look out for the Refugee Week 2020 social media pack, which is coming soon!

Whatever you do, we hope you’ll join us for a week of solidarity, connection and creative imagining, and help us make this the biggest and boldest Refugee Week to date.
