project paddington

For Refugee Week Project Paddington is launching an exciting new project. There’s a writing competition and an art competition for four different age groups (3-5, 6-8, 9-11, 12-18). They want your best creative ideas about what it means to go from scared to safe. They will display the best entries in an exhibition at Theatre Delicatessen in Sheffield. We will also display writing and artwork in our online gallery.

They have arranged some fantastic prizes for our winners including:

  • Signed copies of Annemarie Young’s books including ‘Refugee Diaries’ and Read with Biff, Chip and Kipper books.
  • Art supplies including high quality Reeves and Daler Rowney watercolour sets.
  • Copies of Upscribe’s new book about refugee experiences in Sheffield.
  • Brand new Usborne books including ‘The Big Book of Art’.

We want to show you what it means for a refugee child to go from scared to safe. We are currently asking refugee children we are in contact with to create their own stories, poems and artworks on the theme of ‘From Scared To Safe’ and we will display these and share them on social media too.

The closing date for entries is 10 June 2016.
