The University of Winchester is proud to be hosting an exciting event as part of refugee week 2023. We are inviting learners from primary, secondary, further, and higher education, along with educators, teachers, and lecturers, to join us in exploring refugee education.

Compassion in Education: The Inaugural Conference of University of Winchester’s Sanctuary Network is taking place on Wednesday 21^st June 2023.  The day will run from 9.30am – 2.30pm, followed by a meeting of the Hampshire Universities Together Sanctuary Network, Education Stream.

This event will provide:

Opportunities for learners:

·         Visit a university campus, collaborate with likeminded learners, and hear from university sanctuary students

·         Take part in engaging creative workshops themed around compassion in education

·         Learn how to become ambassadors for creating a welcoming environment for asylum seekers and refugees in their school/college setting

Opportunities for teachers and educators:

·         CPD session focused on support sanctuary learners who have experienced trauma

·         Information on Schools, Colleges and Universities of Sanctuary

·         Talks from leading organisations on how to support refugee education

·         Networking and sharing experiences with other professionals

               Confirmed speakers from the International Rescue Committee, City of Sanctuary UK and Refugee Education UK (amongst others).
