The SCOOP Foundation are excited to announce the launch of their inaugural fundraising walk, Steps to Freedom. This fundraising walk coincides with Ireland’s first-ever Refugee Week, taking place from June 19th to June 25th, 2023. The fundraising walk aims to raise vital funds and awareness for refugees while promoting compassion and inclusivity through SCOOP’s numerous programmes.

Steps to Freedom invites individuals, families, colleagues and communities to participate in a meaningful walk that raises both funding and awareness for refugees in Ireland through The SCOOP Foundation. The theme for 2023 is “Compassion” and SCOOP encourages participants to celebrate compassion and connection, and make sure that everyone feels welcome in Ireland.

You can organise your own walk, with friends, family or colleagues and create your fundraising pages connected to this event page! By encouraging friends, family, and colleagues to sponsor your walk, you can make a tangible difference in the lives of refugees and contribute to the important work of The SCOOP Foundation.

You are encouraged to complete your walks at any time during the week of June 19th to June 25th. Whether it’s a leisurely stroll through a local park, a challenging hike in the countryside, or a walk in solidarity with friends and family, each step taken will make a difference.

The SCOOP team will be doing their walk together on June 20th (World Refugee Day), meeting at 7pm outside Dublin Zoo, Phoenix Park. You are more than welcome to join us for a 5km walk around the park.
