Refugee Week Celebrations x Manchester City of Sanctuary
Join us this Refugee Week for a celebration event bringing people together to connect, create and have fun; while promoting a deeper understanding of the experiences of those seeking sanctuary.
This year’s theme is compassion…Celebrate what compassion looks like in action with Refugee Week
Open and free*. All ages welcomed
*pay what you feel donation is open to help us provide Art Therapy workshops for our local sanctuary seekers. Our groups and sanctuary seekers will be given tickets for free.
Sunday 25 June, 1pm-4:30pm at the Whitworth
Grand Hall:
1pm: Hot and cold drinks and snacks available on arrival.
1.10pm: Welcome from artists and performance by the wonderful Sanctuary Sounds Choir
1.30pm: Welcome and Intro by Fareid Atta, Director of the film Samos on Fire:
Film screening of Samos on Fire:

• Cultural Dance for all ages and abilities with Afrocats

• Exhibition Tours of Traces of Displacement – with artists from the exhibition
2pm, 3pm and 4pm start times (20 maximum per tour)

• Arts and Crafts / Baby and Toddler play area + Whitworth Minecraft (drop in all afternoon)
Location: School of Creativity on the mezzanine floor of the Whitworth

Meet with other visitors over tea and listen to music from the Samos on Fire soundtrack.
