We are excited to announce the March for Human Rights event, taking place on the 24th of June 2023 in London during Refugee Week. This event aims to raise awareness of refugee rights and demonstrate solidarity with refugees, uniting a diverse community dedicated to treating every refugee with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Event Details:

Join us for an empowering march along the Thames Path, advocating for human and refugee rights. The 15-kilometre (9.3 miles) journey starts at the Peace Pagoda in Battersea Park and concludes at Cutty Sark in Greenwich. We aim to complete the route within 5 hours, including breaks.

The march begins at 10 am at the Peace Pagoda, a symbol of peace and harmony in Battersea Park. Together, we will embark on a remarkable journey, symbolizing solidarity and compassion towards refugees and human rights.

We will walk along the southern side of the riverbank, passing through Battersea Park, crossing the iconic Albert Bridge to commence our mission.

Continuing along the north side of the river, we will pass notable landmarks such as the Chelsea Physic Garden and Chelsea Football Club. We will cross the Thames using Chelsea Bridge to enjoy breathtaking views of the river and cityscape.

Our path through Westminster will expose us to London’s landmarks, including the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, and the London Eye. We will cross Hungerford Bridge, offering awe-inspiring vistas of the river, South Bank, and the city skyline.

Traversing the vibrant South Bank, we will pass cultural gems like the National Theatre, Tate Modern, and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, highlighting the power of art and storytelling in promoting social change.

Crossing the pedestrian-only Millennium Bridge, we will marvel at St. Paul’s Cathedral before reaching the iconic Tower Bridge.

East of Tower Bridge, we will explore the St. Katharine Docks—a marina surrounded by delightful restaurants, cafes, and shops. This moment allows for reflection and appreciation of the diverse and welcoming communities that support refugees and uphold human rights.

Continuing along the Thames Path, we will pass through the neighborhoods of Wapping and Shadwell until we reach our destination—Cutty Sark in Greenwich. This historic area, known for its maritime heritage, will be the perfect culmination of our march.

Throughout the journey, we will stand together as advocates for human rights and refugees, amplifying their voices and calling for justice and compassion. Our march along the Thames Path will be a powerful statement of unity, reminding the world of the importance of upholding fundamental human rights and supporting those in need.

During the break, we are pleased to provide a Tesco meal deal for all participants. This includes a sandwich, snack, and drink, ensuring everyone can enjoy a satisfying and well-balanced meal. We understand the importance of sustainable energy during the event and are committed to caring for all participants.

Through this event, we aim to highlight the rights every refugee deserves and debunk misconceptions about their experiences. By bringing together a diverse community, we demonstrate that every refugee’s story is important and deserves support and empathy.

Marketing and Publicity:

We will promote the event through social media platforms like Eventbrite to reach a broad audience. We are collaborating with HRS, a prominent charity based in London, to tap into their network of refugee resettlement agencies, advocacy groups, and community organizations.
