Ariadne’s Thread: Participatory Event
Free Event
Ariadne’s Thread, a support group for migrant and refugee communities, is hosting two participatory cross-stitch sessions where all are welcome to come and contribute to the making of the large-scale “Blue Cornflowers” tapestry.
Based upon a painting by the celebrated Ukrainian folk artist Maria Prymachenko, the project was initiated in May 2022 in London following the invasion of Ukraine by curator and educator, Magdalena Glowacka.
Initially intended as a local participatory project it has quickly became a global collaboration with displaced refugees stitching smaller sections across Europe. To date, over 100 individuals of different backgrounds, cultures, nationalities, ages and abilities have contributed to this global stitching effort.
Please feel free to join us. Lunch and Refreshments are provided.
