Balkan Roma Contemporary Jazz Trio and Film Projection by Michael Cretu Trio
Join The Michael Cretu Trio (Ed Barnwell – piano, Myke Wilson – drums, Michael Cretu – double-bass) at Theatre Deli Sheffield as they launch their new album “Johnny” and perform live alongside a screening of Michael’s documentary – a celebration of Roma Musicians and their contribution to European culture from 18th century to present times.
The short film is highlighting the Roma musicians influences on folk, classical and jazz music from the time of slavery (17th century) to present. Michael’s compositions are an exiting mixture of folk, contemporary and jazz music, described as “fabulous” by Suzy Klein after a live performance on BBC Radio 3 In Tune.
