Exeter Film Screening + Conversation – Limbo

Exeter Film Screening + Conversation – Limbo

Presented in partnership with Refugee Support Devon to mark World Refugee Day.

Limbo is a wry and poignant observation of the refugee experience, set on a fictional remote Scottish island where a group of new arrivals await the results of their asylum claims. It centres on Omar, a young Syrian musician who is burdened by his grandfather’s oud, the king of Arabic music instruments, which he has carried all the way from his homeland.

This beautiful gem of a film offers a humanist approach to the asylum process which is as gentle and intimate as the characters centred within. LIMBO also shares insight into the challenges faced by many Assylum Seekers who are settling into rural communites and mirrors the experiences of those who are recieving support from Refugee support Devon.

The screening will be followed by a conversation between members of the RDS team and the audience. It will be a chance to get to know more about the services offered by RSD and Refugee Week.
