HBTSR Schools Refugee Week Competition

HBTSR Schools Refugee Week Competition

HBTSR is running our second  annual competition for schools  The theme is WELCOME/CROESO, and we encourage all pupils from the age of 3 to the age of 19 in maintained schools in our area to take part. There are three ways to take part:

1 write a persuasive or a welcoming letter,

2 write and illustrate a poem, or

3 create a visual interpretation of the theme in any medium (see the poster for full details and rules).

We decided on this theme as it is understandable to all and is open to many levels of interpretation. Being a welcoming school is one of the main criteria for becoming a school of  sanctuary and creating a welcome for refugees is one of the main aims of our organisation.  Our theme of ‘Welcome’ will tie in very well with the official Refugee Week theme of ‘Our Home’, and schools are encouraged to link the two themes together during Refugee Week…

We have a stellar panel of Judges with links to our area including best selling local authors, famous artists, local dignitaries and people with lived experience of seeking sanctuary.

All entries must be submitted by Monday 15 April. We will be holding our Awards Evening at St Mary’s Church, Brecon on Friday 14 June, on the UK’s National Day of Welcome, and at the start of Refugee Week.Competition Poster 2024 W2 Competition Poster 2024 E2
