Live at B:Eats for Refugee Week with Millicent Chapanda
Celebrating Sanctuary’s (CSB) Birmingham Refugee Week Festival happens each year in June, celebrating the contribution and resilience of refugees in the UK, and sharing their stories, campaigns and culture. Throughout the week there will be music and arts events across the city.
In the lead up to our Refugee Week Takeover event on Saturday 24th, we are putting on 2 great musicians during the week at B:Eats Cafe in the Foyer at Symphony Hall.
Millicent Chapanda (Zimbabwe)
Millicent Chapanda is a Zimbabwean musician and creative cultural artist, mbira player, singer dancer and percussionist. A captivating and spellbinding performance of Mbira and song, with engaging rhythms from the deep cultural well and heritage of Zimbabwe. Millicent is a proud cultural artist whose music goes deep into the ancient Shona heritage. She has performed at venues, events and festivals across the country and is a regular contributor to Celebrating Sanctuary’s programme.
