Nezouh
14-year-old Zeina’s family are one of the few to remain in the war-torn Syrian capital of Damascus. When a bomb blows a massive hole in wall and ceiling of their apartment, her mother thinks it’s time to leave, but her father is resolute that they stay, refusing to turn his family into refugees. While a new war of attrition grows between her parents, the gaping holes becomes a window into a new world for the impressionable Zeina, who forms a friendship of clandestine rooftop meetings and messages lowered on ropes with the neighbours son Amer.
Displaced Syrian director Soudade Kaadan brings warmth, charm and a touch of magical realism to a story based on her own harrowing memories.
