Join us for a free film screening of On The Bride's Side. This screening is part of a special film programme by Moving Worlds project and Refugee Week and is sponsored by the Law and Global Justice Research Centre, School of Law at Cardiff University.
The film will commence at 6:30pm on Tuesday 20 June 2017 followed by a short informal discussion. People working across creative, community and legal approaches to refugee and migration work will kick of the discussion and anyone is welcome to contribute their thoughts on the film, the themes it brings up and their own work in the area.
Film description:

A Palestinian poet and an Italian journalist meet five Palestinians and Syrians in Milan who entered Europe via the Italian island of Lampedusa after fleeing the war in Syria. They decide to help them complete their journey to Sweden – and hopefully avoid getting themselves arrested as traffickers – by faking a wedding.

This emotionally charged journey not only brings out the true stories and hopes and dreams of the five Palestinians and Syrians and their rather special traffickers, but also reveals an unknown side of Europe – a transnational, supportive and irreverent Europe that ridicules the laws and restrictions of the Fortress in a kind of masquerade.

This is a free public event. Kongs Cardiff is an accessible venue but unfortunately cannot host under 18s.
