A CITY OF SANCTUARY BEYOND THE PANDEMIC // PANEL TALK
Panel Talk led by Assist, City of Sanctuary Sheffield & Friends
We need a rethink of the asylum system in the UK. As organisations working with asylum seekers, migrants and refugees we have always been aware of the inequalities that exist in our society.
The pandemic has exposed how deep and debilitating this inequality is for the people that suffer the poverty inflicted by the UK's hostile environment. In Sheffield we have a well structured and established support network which has stepped up and has done what it can for the last couple of months.
The debate will cover what needs to change so things don't return to the status quo and people are allowed to live with dignity and choice in our city.
