Hackney Destitution Centre
92 Dalston Lane
If you have lived or explored East London before, the sight of a large Red Cross on a building on Dalston Lane might be familiar. But not many people know about the incredible work that happens inside.
Hackney Refugee Centre fulfils a need for an advice and support service for asylum seekers and refugees in Hackney and the local area. It aims to provide advice and assistance to asylum seekers and refugees on immigration, welfare, and health issues, whilst offering a welcoming environment to help to reduce social isolation; and publicizes issues relating to the social and economic circumstances of migrants. The Centre offers professional advice and support to refugees, helping navigate often complex systems.
Join the British Red Cross this Refugee Week at an Open House Day at Hackney Refugee Centre. Enjoy music, entertainment, and amazing food, and explore the Centre and the amazing work that it carries out.
This event is open from midday to 3pm and free to attend, though with opportunities to donate and support the vital work the British Red Cross does with Refugees, in London and across the globe.
Bring along your friends and family to find out about this amazing building!
