Migration Matters Festival
Young people performing stories of migration between Sheffield and Brooklyn. (+Q&A)
At the start of this year a group of young people from Sheffield worked with Chol Theatre to connect with a group of young people from Brooklyn, New York. Through live discussions, recorded interviews and a live streamed performance the young people began to create a play based on their families personal stories of migration.
At this event the young people from Sheffield college, their tutor and a member of the Chol team will share their experience so far. They will screen a documentary of the process made by local filmmaker Sean Lovell, including footage of the young people's first live performance to Brooklyn. The young people will finish the event with a Q&A session.x

Chol co-creates stories in everyday community and educational spaces with children and young people from early years to early career. Our practice increases artistic skills, literacy and confidence enabling children and young people from all backgrounds to feel powerful and connected. Our work can be pure drama or a variety of art forms and is drawn from intercultural community contexts. We operate nationally but predominantly in Yorkshire in our local communities in Sheffield and Kirklees.
