Thursday 10 June 2021
5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
London South Bank University
As part of LSBU's activity to mark Refugee Week 2021, this event will shine a spotlight on refugees & migrants in the UK - the challenges & barriers many of them face but also their successes & achievement. Some of our staff & students will be sharing their own incredible stories and we're proud shine a spotlight on them in the lead up to Refugee Week.
The London Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) will be joining us to discuss the community toolkit they developed in collaboration with the COMMEET Fellowship for Community Empowerment and a number of other global partners focusing on the wellbeing of migrants & displaced persons. They'll share how the toolkit came about & why embracing refugees & migrants into communities can have huge mutual benefits for society.
We're thrilled to also be joined by two incredible organisations who will explore the current situation for refugees & migrants in the UK as well as what support is available to them and what we can all do to create more opportunities & a more welcoming society for them.
The theme of Refugee Week 2021 is 'We Cannot Walk Alone'. We hope this event encapsulates the theme and that our audiences walk away feeling inspired by this.
After hearing from our guest speakers, there will be panel discussion to create a space for interaction and shared experiences followed by an opportunity for audience Q&As.
