It is with great sadness we have learned of the passing of Mohammad Alhajali, one of the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire. Mohammad, who was 23, was a refugee from Syria, and was studying engineering at the University of West London. With his brothers, he was helping to organise today’s Syrian Refugee Community Iftar, to mark the Great Get Together and Refugee Week. He was due to be serving the food to people attending this event in London this evening (Saturday 17th June). Instead, he will be remembered in prayers – and we will be standing in solidarity with all those who mourn his passing. We ask everyone in the Refugee Week community to join us in remembering Mohammad and sending our thoughts to his family.
