Refugee Week is coordinated by Counterpoints Arts, a leading national organisation in the field of arts, migration and cultural change.

Freedom from Torture is a UK-based human rights organisation dedicated to the care and treatment of survivors of torture. The physical and psychological effects of torture continue long after someone has escaped their torturers. Freedom from Torture has five centres around the UK offering a variety of psychological therapies and practical support to survivors and forensic documentation of torture. The organisation also speaks out alongside survivors to raise awareness of torture and influence decision makers.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM, the UN Migration Agency) was founded in 1951 to assist in the resettlement of Europeans displaced in the aftermath of World War II and has played a vital role in refugee resettlement around the world since. Nowadays, IOM plays a significant role in the resettlement of refugees to the UK, through the Gateway Protection Programme and the Syria Vulnerable Persons Relocation Scheme (VPRS), working on health assessments, document handling and travel assistance before they are helped to settle in communities by local authorities and NGOs.

They also provide specialist services in areas such as housing and welfare, education and employment, family reunion, women’s issues, community development, the media and the arts.

UK for UNHCR is the UN Refugee Agency’s national charity partner for the UK. We build solidarity, create partnerships and raise funds to protect refugees worldwide through UNHCR’s work. The funds we raise help UNHCR respond to refugee emergencies when they occur, as well as provide displaced communities with ongoing assistance such as education, healthcare and livelihoods.

The UN Refugee Agency was established in 1950 to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide. Its primary purpose is to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees. It strives to ensure that everyone can exercise the right to seek asylum and find safe refuge in another State, with the option to return home voluntarily, integrate locally or to resettle in a third country. It also has a mandate to help stateless people.

The Welsh Refugee Council has a vision to empower refugees and asylum seekers to rebuild their lives in Wales. Their grass roots work gives refugees help and support to create new lives in Wales.. The range of services includes advice and support, casework, plus advocacy and representation in areas such as welfare, benefits, housing and health. They are also involved with community development and capacity building for Refugee Community Organisations, youth work, volunteering and befriending, and adult guidance in education, training and employment.
