Queer Migrant Pride Fest 2025 – Save the Date!

On 22 June 2025, Queer Migrant Pride Fest will be returning to St. Margaret’s House in Bethnal Green. Hosted by ice&fire theatre company, the event takes place in June to mark the crossover of Pride Month and Refugee Week. It’s a day to celebrate the members of our community who are personally affected by asylum and immigration policy, creating a haven of queer love and mutual support in a hostile world. Last year, over 200 people came to celebrate with us, and this year, it’ll be bigger and better than ever!

Celebrating ‘Community as a Superpower’

We can think of no better way to celebrate the theme of Refugee Week 2025, Community as a Superpower. At a time when community spaces are disappearing, creating space to celebrate our queer community is more important than ever. For as long as queer people have existed (forever!), we have known that our community is our superpower. It’s our community that gives us space to come out, to be ourselves, to find out how we want to live. Our community helps us stand up to the harsh realities of the border regime, to find connection with friends, lovers, and neighbours. It’s our community that keeps us safe.

The Festival

Queer Migrant Pride Fest is all about celebrating the power of our community. From midday into the evening, St. Margaret’s House will be filled with entertainment, workshops, and stalls. We centre wellbeing and taking care of each other, with workouts, self-defence, massages, yoga, and meditation sessions. Our dedicated ‘Beauty Beyond Borders’ salon offers haircuts and make-up to ensure everyone is feeling like their most fabulous self. There are opportunities to get creative and centre self-expression, with creative writing and crafts.

On the practical side of things, there are workshops and immigration advice sessions for people who are going through the asylum and immigration systems, and for people who want to know how to support friends and challenge the injustices of the hostile environment.

Food, Fun, and Festivities

Everyone is well-fed, with delicious lunch and snacks throughout the day. In the evening, it’s all about celebrating our community and especially our queer migrant siblings. Expect dancing, vogueing, film screenings, stand-up, theatre, and the legendary Queer Migrant Cabaret, open to any queer migrants who want to perform. It’s a day of joy, pride, and camp fabulousness where we can forget about what’s going on outside.

What People Are Saying

Last year, we asked everyone to write down some feedback at the end of the day. Attendees talked about the ‘great food, great vibe, great people’, and described QMPF as beautiful, friendly, creative, inspiring, welcoming, powerful, outstanding, and awesome. One attendee called it ‘an amazing, uplifting heartfelt day with a very important message.’
