We’re excited to announce the return of Refugee Week to the airwaves this June with Refugee Week on Air 2025– an international radio programme dedicated to amplifying the voices and stories of musicians, activists, and creators from refugee backgrounds around the world.

Taking place from 16-22 June, this year’s theme, Community as a Superpower, celebrates the incredible everyday. Ordinary and extraordinary. Simple acts of shared generosity. Kindness multiplied to become an unstoppable force! Read the full announcement here.

Each year, a growing number of radio and audio creators – from community radio stations to podcasters and international broadcasters – are taking part in Refugee Week by curating programmes that platform and celebrate the contributions, creativity, and resilience of refugees.

Through the medium of radio and audio, our collective power has the potential to inspire hope, build bridges across borders, and shape our shared futures. This Refugee Week, join us as we transform airwaves into a vibrant meeting place for cultural exchange, where communities come together to share compelling stories, fresh ideas, and moving music from around the globe.

We warmly invite radio stations, podcasters and programme makers across the country to be part of this vital conversation. Whether you choose to produce original shows, curate themed content, or collaborate on cross-station broadcasts, there are so many ways to get involved.

Here’s how to get involved with Refugee Week on Air 2025:

  • Radio hosts and stations can invite individuals with refugee backgrounds as guests to share their music and stories on air.
  • Radio hosts and stations can curate music that highlights artists from refugee backgrounds.
  • Radio hosts can base their shows around this year’s theme, Community is a Superpower, exploring the concept through music and storytelling.
  • Radio stations can organise live sessions with musicians from refugee backgrounds.
  • Radio stations and hosts can create audio documentaries about refugee experiences.
