No gesture is too small when it comes to making a difference. Whether it’s using our platforms on social media, or having conversations with family, friends and colleagues. It is through relatively small interactions that we can all help create positive change and reshape the narrative surrounding displacement and make a more welcoming, safe, and sustainable home for all.
Here are some ideas to take part:
Social Media
- For those short on time: Share the orange heart emoji on your social media.
- Share Refugee Week resources (e.g. Our Home artwork, thunderclap, simple acts etc.)
- What message would you like to send to welcome people seeking sanctuary? Share your message online using #RefugeeWeek #SimpleActs #OurHome, together let’s fill social media with messages of care and solidarity.
- Take part in City of Sanctuary’s Speak Up for Sanctuary
Creatives & Content Makers
- Writers: write a blog, a letter, newsletter, article, poem or short story!
- Influencers: Share recommendations for books, films, TV and podcasts or connect with an individual or organisation championing refugee rights
- Artists: create a new artwork or piece and share on social media!
- Curators & Editors: use your platform to curate Refugee Week related content, share a playlist or a list of your top picks!
Groups & Businesses
- Groups: bring Refugee Week as an agenda point to your next meeting, how can you take part as a group?
- Libraries & Bookshops: Curate a Refugee Week book display!
- Businesses: display your support by promoting Refugee Week in your workspaces (e.g. putting up a poster) or supporting on your social media channels.
